Vomiting
Written by wilson333
I just adopted a 1 year old American short hair cat from the SPCA. When I brought him home he was fine. About a week later he started vomiting. He threw up 6 days in a row. Then had a break for a couple days, started the 6 day vomiting and then a break. It has now started again. He only vomits once a day. It is one pile and it looks like baby food. It seems like it was being digested but then his body rejected it. I have anything harmful no accessible to him. Also he never had a set diet at the SPCA so I do not believe it is the food. If you have any suggestions for me about what is going on, I would appreciate hearing from you. Thank you

These are great suggestions but I'd suggest calling the SPCA or getting to a vet; this is going on for a long time!

Sometimes a change in diet can cause the vomiting. Even though the SPCA probably fed what they had on hand, it may have agreed with him or maybe the vomiting was overlooked while he was there. It may be worth trying something different and it is hard to know which brand may work for him. Some manufacturers make a sensitive stomach that may help. If he is long haired, maybe a hairball formula. Did they worm him while he was at the shelter? It should would be helpful if they could talk.
Another possibility is that Lou ate or is eating something that does not agree with him such as a house plant. Sometimes cats will swallow things like string or dental floss and that can cause major problems. If he continues to vomit, becomes very lazy or refuses to eat, then he needs to see the vet. It's better to be safe.
