thanks but two more questions 1,is she going to hurt the kittens by jumping over the gate with them? Is she afraid that we are going to hurt them? And arent they soppossed to be ready to go to new homes at six weeks? Is she goimg to be ok when they go? And last question when she gave birth it caused her hair to get little balls of hair to nat she allready has problems with hairballs and I treat it with hairball remedy, she has issues with being brushed for to long, ive been thinking about a bath but you know how cats are shell kick my butt. And then I thought shave and she will kick my but, believe it or not she is small and sweet but she also lets us know what we will do or wont do when it comes to her, any suggestions cuz I can tell she would like them to be gone but she wont like how. thanks for everything this cat mean alot to this family but boy is she picky.
It would be much safer if she did not scale the gate with them, but kittens are use to being lugged around, and are pretty tough. If you can keep her in one room, that would be best. She may trust you with her kittens but her maternal instinct is so strong that she cannot help herself by going to great lengths to put her babies where she feels they are safe, even it if doesn't make sense to us. She is an animal and the instincts are hard wired.
The kittens would do best if they could stay with her until 7 or 8 weeks. They can be eating kitten food mixed with water to make it soft at this point and hopefully starting to use that litter you introduced. Your cat will probably look for her kittens for awhile but she will get over it. If you plan on having her spayed, you can really make that appointment anytime now.
As far as the hair mats she has, you can try a demat comb and just do short sessions of grooming as long as she will allow. I am afraid a bath may not help the mats and may not be worth it if she is that difficult. If you have her spayed, you can ask them to shave the hair while she is sleeping. I would not try to clip the hair yourself, it is too easy to cut the skin, especially in that area.

Caly may just be upset that her nest has been disturbed. Try to at least contain her in the same room as she was or in as safe a place as possible and try moving the litter further away from the kittens. The meowing can be a sign of stress which she may be experiencing because of the change. The other possibility is that she is having a change in hormones. Cats can go right back in to heat again soon after having kittens.
