cat won't stop peeing everywheres
Written by Ruben
Please someone help me,Here is my story,
Last year i had 2 cats bandit and ginger,I lost my friend bandit so that left ginger alone so my family and i decide to get 2 more kittens, we now have Ginger, macy and izzy.Well ever since we got the 2 new cats Ginger will not stop peeing and pooping all over our house. I have done everything i can think of, gave her her own cat box in a spearate room, put her in the bathroom thinking that if she does pee or poop it will be easier to clean up and the smell won't be so bad to deal with. She has ruined our downstsirs carpets so much that we had to have it riped out and new put in.
Please some one tell me what to do. I am afraid if we can't fix this that we will have to find her a new place to live and we don't want to do that. I was told to give her time to get use to the other cats i have done so it's been a year this June. how much longer is this going to go on. My daughter is very much in love with this cat. PLEASE HELP

Ruben, I am sorry you are having such troubles with your kitty. Inappropriate elimination can be very stressful. Here are some basic rules for multi cat households.
1) One more litter box than cats. 2) At least one box per level of your house. If it is only one level, you can have the boxes near each other. 3) Duplicate what once worked like hood or no hood and no plastic liners. Also make sure the location is not right next to noisy areas like washers, dryers and furnaces. 4) Use a plain, unscented, non clumping, as natural as possible litter. (basically one step up from sand) 5) Many cats will not pee in the same corner of the box that they poop in, so when you scoop (and scoop often), take out the soiled spot and add new litter, DO NOT STIR. 6)When you clean the entire box, do not use anything but a mild dish soap and water and rinse well. You can add a litte baking soda to the bottom for odor control. 7)Never take the kitty and put her in the box, she will sense your attitude and get a bad vibe about the box.
The next step is to reintroduce the litter box to Ginger. Put the other cats in a separate room while you do this. Take a really special treat like Tuna or Salmon and lead Ginger from the kitchen to each box on her own four feet, have her step in the box, out of the box and then place the treat down in front of the box. What you are doing is reminding her that the litter box is a nice place to be. If you can do this twice a day for 7 days, you will hopefully see the habit of peeing and pooping outisde the box disappear.
Please keep us posted on Ginger's progress.
