Sores
Written by puppylove
My dog recently had surgery, and the cast gave her sores on her leg. Is it safe to put ointment like Neosporin on the wounds?

Yes, it is safe to use antibiotic ointment on a topical sore or wound. If you can distract your dog with a chew bone for a short time after you apply it, it should have a chance to absorb.
It is helpful with sores or wounds to clean well with peroxide or betadine,(making sure area is free of dirt and hair), dry well by patting with gauze and then apply ointment. Hope your pooch has a speedy recovery!
