Ear Infections

My lab was recently diagnosed with an ear infection. I need to get drops in his ears every day, but I have to tell you I'm having trouble wrestling with his 75lbs and I don't think the drops are being administered well. Any pointers?

It is amazing how large 75 punds can feel under a protest. Try having your dog sit and you stand behind him so he cannot back up, (corners are helpful) hold your hand over the top of his nose and eyes (so he can't see the drops coming), tell him to stay in your deepest alpha voice, with the other hand, flip the ear up and try to get the drops in with out touching the ear itself. Wait a couple of seconds and gently massage the ear from the outside to disperse the drops inside. Then generously reward the hopefully good behavior.

Or, try having him lay on his side, distract with food, don't let him see you coming with the drops and sneak them in while feeding a treat. Sounds easy-right. Good luck!
