Shar Pei heavy breathing

I have a Shar Pei that is about 8 years old. She has been breathing heavy for the last month, but that is her only problem. She is still active, eats well, is not over weight. It's kind of a panting but she does it a lot. It is not from being hot or from exercising. I'm afraid she might have a respiritory problem of allergies. Any suggestions?

Matzchevy, there a couple of things that could possibly be going on with your dog. Like you said, a respiratory problem or allergies or maybe a heart issue. Dogs will also pant when they are in pain. I would recommend a vet visit to find out exactly what is going on. Your dog is considered middle age at this point and she could be developing a treatable medical condition, but finding out early is key.
