pregnant cat has worms

My cat is pregnant and should be having her kittens any day. However, I found out today she has worms. I'm fairly sure it's tapeworm. Does this mean the kittens will also be infected with tapeworm, and what's the best way to handle the situtation? All of the area vets are closed until Monday.

Holly, most kittens do require a deworming after they are born.  Where your cat is do to have the kittens any day, you may want to wait until they are born to treat her.  She is probably stressed enough right now preparing to have babies.  Until then you can just make sure to clean up after her (scoop box after each poop).  The worm medication that your vet carries is far superior to that which you can buy over the counter so it is worth the trip.  They will also be able to dose the kittens properly and if you drop a fresh stool sample off from mom they will be able to tell you exactly what kind of worms you need to treat for.  Good luck!
