Persian cat hair loss above one eye

Is anyone aware of an issue specific to Persians where they lose a small patch of hair on their face?  My 5 mth old male persian just all of a sudden had the hair fall out in a strip above his eye.  It looks like he has on white makeup.  Thanks.

Resqmefarms, hair loss in patches could possibly be ringworm, mite or some sort of allergy.  Ringworm is a fungal infection that is usually seen by hair loss in patches of various sizes.  It is transmitted by an infected animal, grooming equipment or a contaminated facility such as a shelter or cattery.  Ringworm is very hardy and can survive off the animal and be picked up by another animal very easily.  It can also be transmitted to humans.

If your cat has an allergy that is causing the hair loss, it could be from food or something in the environment that the cat is coming in contact with.  I would sooner think if this was the case that you would see more hair loss than just the one spot and lots of itching.  Other possibilities would be if your cat was scratching the area of hair loss alot, there may be something bothering him around the eye or in the ears.

The only way to know for sure is a visit to the vet.  They may want to do a fungal culture to check for Ringworm or skin scraping to see if any thing else may be present such as Cheyletiella, a skin mite.

I have added some additional information for you (links in blue) to check out.  I hope this clears up for your kitty soon!
