My cat hates me
Hi my name is Ana and my cat hates me. Her name is Pinkey, she is about 3 years old. She is very aggressive with my other two cats and with me. She's always been that way. I now live in a small apartment and my youngest cat will sit and look out a window, Pinkey will come up hiss and paw at the baby and gets her to leave that window so Pinkey can sit and look out of it. My apartment has like 10 windows so I know it's not lack of windows. She will follow my oldest cat in an aggressive manner until she corners her and attacks her. Pinkey and my youngest cat will start playing then Pinkey takes it seriously and she'll start growling and hissing like if she's fighting with a strange cat! They wake me up at night. My boyfriend says Pinkey doesn't like me and to get ride of her (I would NEVER do that). I love her but I feel that she hates me. When I pet her she hisses at me and bites me. She hardley ever comes to me. I don't know what to do. I took her to the vet once and he told me she's bipolar? I wish I new why she's like that with me. Any thoughts? Anyone?

Ana, I really wish I had all the answers to all the quirky cat behaviors out there. I don't think Pinkey hates you, she is probably just one of those cats who has a cranky disposition. I have noticed even the best cats will turn their nose up to a particular smell and sometimes get grumpy. I had a cat that would run from the smell of toothpaste or hand cream. Just something to think about if you happen to wear a perfume or alot of scentted lotion.
It will help your position with Pinkey if you are the one that does all the feeding and giving out treats. Food is usually a good way to reduce anxiety and bad attitude. It may help if you give all the cats a treat at the same time so she can associate the other cats with a good thing.
As far as the aggressive behavior towards the other cats, make sure there are plenty of toys and activites (condos, scratching devices, etc.) to keep her busy. This would also be a good situation for a Feliway diffuser. Feliway is pheromone therapy for cats with soiling or aggression issues. It sends a message out that all is ok and helps relax cats. It is usually plugged into the room where the majority of the cat ineractions take place, like the living room. I have added a couple of links (in blue) to our articles on cat aggresssion, I hope this helps!
