Is there Pepto Bismal for cats?
Written by Blossom
My older tabby cat ate something (someone fed her lunch meat- ham and a small amount of milk) and she became ill and began vomiting and had diahhrea. She seems better, but is still looking for grass to chew on. Is there anything to give a cat that will settle the stomach and help her system get back to normal? She normally only eats Science Diet Senior Advanced dry cat food.

Blossom, there are very few over the counter medications that are safe for use in cats. Kaopectate used to be the over the counter drug of choice for cats with diarrhea but the manufacturer changed the formulation to include Bismuth Subsalicylate which can be toxic to cats. It is the same ingredient in Pepto Bismol (also toxic to cats) which is an asprin derivative and asprin is very toxic to cats. Imodium can cause severe side effects in cats. The best bet is to contact your vet if your cat is still having diarrhea and see what they would recommend.
