cloudy eye and third eyelid

My cat has developed a problem with her eye and we're wondering if it's critical enough to take her to the emergency pet hospital or if we can wait until tomorrow to go to our vet. the eye is becoming hazy, she keeps it closed as much as possible and the third eyelid is almost always covering it about halfway. it doesnt seem to irritate her too much, she isnt scratching or rubbing it. her behavior was normal until today, shes still eating and drinking, she is still very social but doesnt want to play like she normally does, just wants to sit and be petted, which is odd for her.... if anyone has had any similar experiences or any advice whatsoever I'd really appreciate it!!! Thank you!

my little kitten had an upper respiratory infection( a cold) and the vet gave me some medicine and its almost gone but now her third eye lid is showing and her eyes are unbelievbly red. Should i take to the vet or keep giving her the medicine?

Usually a coarse of antibiotics for an upper respiratory infection lasts between 10 and 14 days.  You should finish all the medicine prescribed by the vet as written on the label.  If the red eyes is a new problem, it is best to have your kitty rechecked.  If the eyes were red initially and are getting worse, give your vet a call and see what they would recommend.

My cat had his 3rd eyelid cut (like hanging over a little bit outside) and a cornea scratch. I freaked out when he came in cuz it looked like his eye was hanging out. After a week of getting organizations to  help me pay for this surgery he supposedly needed it ended up only being "cosmetic". All he needed was some eyedrops and I insisted on some pain meds (not really needed but was only $10). So the piont is ...by the time I had gathered all the help, made the appt.,got there it had healed itself and like i said turned into cosmetic surgery just to make his 3rd eyelid look back to normal. So u don't have to RUN to the vet but do get it checked and put one of those head things on so he can't scratch/itch it. Hope I helped. And good luck. It was very stressful 4 me at t he time and everything turned out perfect. U can't even tell anything ever happened.

i also have the same problem only my cat does not have a hazy eye just the third eyelid is coming out over his eyes.he also acts normal as can be.i noticed it just this morning when he greeted me in bed. im worried, what should i do??

Sometimes the third eyelids can come partly up because the cat is feeling a bit under the weather.  Some cats who have a significant parasite infection (worms) may also have visible third eyelids.  Another possibility could be an allergy or irritant and the third eyelids are trying to protect the eye.  The best way to take out the guess work is a visit to the vet.  You could always start by dropping off a fresh stool sample and then go from there based on the results.

It is hard to say what is going on in that eye, but the third eyelid is trying to protect the eye.  She may have gotten something in it somehow or has developed some other condition and even though she is not rubbing it, it may be painful.  The hazy part you are describing is something that probably needs to be looked at.  If she is still not wanting to play and the third eye lid is still up and the eye itself cloudy, it is a good idea to see the vet.
