Overview

The English Setter originated in England more than four hundred years ago as a bird dog. The dogs would find the birds in the grasslands or brush and then crouch down so the hunters could throw the nets over the birds. After the introduction of firearms, the dogs no longer had to crouch but instead, stood tall and pointed towards the birds.
