Although known as a protective guard dog today, the Rottweiler was also a very capable herding dog and many retain those instincts.

Grooming
At least once each week, brush the dog's coat. At the same time the dog's teeth should be brushed, the ears cleaned, and the toenails trimmed.

The Rottweiler is serious, calm rather than active, more protective than aggressive, and devoted to her home and family.
Activity level
The Rottie will enjoy long walks, a chance to play, and a game of fetch every day. She will also enjoy a chance to sleep in the sun.
Training
All Rotties need training. This is a powerful, intelligent dog who needs a leader and if the owner doesn't assume that leadership position, the dog will and that's never good.
